Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Friday, December 7
Church

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held at St. Francis de Sales every First Friday immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass, and continuing until 4 p.m. Eucharistic Adoration honors the special presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is a profession of faith in the real bodily presence of Jesus. One of the best ways to look at prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is to see it as an extension of Holy Communion. Our souls are fed and our minds and wills are strengthened and given light, that we may go about the tasks of our daily lives.

Please come and spend some time in prayer with the Lord. For more information, please call Denise Alianello at (847) 726-1307 or Lillian Shutty at (847) 682-4555.

Hand-carved Olive Wood Gifts

All proceeds benefit Catholic schools in the Holy Land.

Did you know that 600 Christian families living in Bethlehem and are completely dependent on carving olive wood figurines for for their livelihood? The recent clashes in the Middle East have stopped the tourism industry in Bethlehem, causing most of those families serious harm in earning their living and forcing many of them to leave their homeland. Emptying the land of Christ from Christians can have tragic consequences on the Holy sites. Issam from “Star of Bethlehem Group” came to the United States with a mission to help those families by selling their beautiful religious hand crafts. The cost of goods goes to benefit the Christian carvers to keep them working in the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the profit from sales goes directly to the needy Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land. Star of Bethlehem has been approved by many bishops, and diocese of Jerusalem. Please take a look at those beautiful artifacts December 1st & 2nd.

All Souls' Liturgy

Friday, November 2
7 p.m.
Church

In our Catholic tradition, during the entire month of November, we pray for our loved ones who have died. Most especially, we remember them on November 2, the Commemoration of All Souls. All who grieve the loss of someone special, whether recently or years ago, are invited to attend the 7 p.m. All Souls’ Mass on Friday, November 2, to pray and light a candle for loved ones who have died.

To remember those whom we mourn in a tangible way and make their presence a part of this special liturgy, you are invited to bring a memento to place on a memory table prior to Mass. The memento might be a picture of your loved one or some other small article that means a great deal to you as you remember them. Following Mass, we invite you to join Bereavement Ministers and Ministers of Care in the Gathering Space to share stories about your loved one over refreshments. As we mourn, each time we tell our story, we take another step in our healing. If you have questions, please contact Mary Manson at (847) 843-9262.
