We know of Jesus’ concern for the sick; healing was an essential part of His ministry and that of the disciples and the early Church. Our mission today continues what Jesus began during his life on earth. “Are any among you sick? They should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14). Physical, mental and spiritual health are inter-related. In the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick we pray for healing of all kinds—for the body, soul and spirit. Yet God alone knows what kind of healing we need most. Baptized Catholics facing surgery, who live with serious illness or chronic disease, whose health is impaired due to aging, who suffer with depression, serious anxiety and addictions, who are profoundly grieving or are caregivers affected by the illness of a loved one, may all benefit from the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Please join us to experience God’s mercy and healing.
