Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Friday, December 1
Church

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held at St. Francis de Sales every First Friday immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass, and continuing until 4 p.m. Eucharistic Adoration honors the special presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is a profession of faith in the real bodily presence of Jesus. One of the best ways to look at prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is to see it as an extension of Holy Communion. Our souls are fed and our minds and wills are strengthened and given light, that we may go about the tasks of our daily lives. Please come and spend some time in prayer with the Lord. For more information, please call Denise Alianello at (847) 726-1307 or Lillian Shutty at (847) 682-4555.

Hand-Carved Olive Wood Gifts from the Holy Land

Weekend of December 2-3, 2017
Church Gathering Space

There are more than 600 Christian families living in Bethlehem who are completely dependent on carving olive wood figurines for their livelihood. The recent clashes in the Middle East have stopped the tourism industry in Bethlehem, causing most of those families serious harm in earning their living and forcing many of them to leave their homeland. Emptying the land of Christ from Christians can have tragic consequences on the Holy sites. Issam from "Star of Bethlehem Group" came to the United States with a mission to help those families by selling their beautiful religious hand crafts. The cost of goods goes to benefit the Christian carvers to keep them working in the spirit if our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the profit from sales goes directly to needy Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land. Star of Bethlehem has been approved by many bishops, and the diocese of Jerusalem. Please take a look at these beautiful artifacts in the Church Gathering Space on the weekend of December 2 and 3.
